Hi, I’m Emma Addison, a beauty therapist and nail technician with 8 years of experience in the nail industry. Nails have always been my passion as a consumer initially, and over the years, that passion naturally grew into me learning to do them and becoming a qualified nail tech.
I’m an experienced teacher of work based learning, and have been a quality, compliance and performance manager in further education sector. Merging my skillsets to develop into sharing my knowledge and teaching nails was an obvious next step. I am an ambassador for continuous learning, and I love developing alongside my students while empowering them to feel confident in their ability to enhance their careers.
What year did you start doing nails?
I started doing nails in 2018. I went back to college and studied Level 2, then level 3 beauty and spa and since I loved nail services so much I decided to progress to study an advanced nail services diploma as my specialism.
What inspired you to do nails?
When I left school I originally wanted to do nails, but life took me on a different path which led me into senior management positions within further education sector. Somewhere, I knew I wanted a career in beauty, and when studying nails quickly became my passion.
What motivated you to join the Gelish team?
As a nail consumer, I always loved my Gelish sets, so my affiliation with Gelish is deep rooted. Once I set up my own business, I knew Gelish would be my brand of choice as I trusted it as a consumer, so I believed in the brand. I’ve been using Gelish for many years and truly believe it’s a reputable and leading brand. I have studied short courses, full length diplomas and all sorts in between. With my education background I am always analytical, so when the opportunity to represent and educate with a brand I genuinely love, I knew I could use my skills to ensure teaching is tailored, current and a quality outcome based experience. I was so nervous joining the Gelish family of amazing techs, but they have been fabulous and this has cemented my decision to be part of a fabulous brand.
How long have you been an Educator for Gelish?
2026 will be my first year of delivery with Gelish.
What is your favourite part of nails and teaching nails?
My favourite part is assessing where students are and supporting them throughout their journey. I have always believed that people need empowering with knowledge and this will give them conviction and develop thier confidence and ability. I’m constantly inspired by my peers and share this with students. We are all on a constant learning journey and we should all feel confident and not afraid to not know something, as they say, no questions are daft questions.
What is your goal?
My goal is to enhance the nail industry by delivering teaching that is effective. It is real; based on real working environments factoring in salon deliverables and considering how we balance service delivery with nail integrity and all the technical service application. Gelish is the brand I chose to do this in my business, so I know this is achievable for other independent techs and salon owners.
